Greenpoint Seeds used the original clone-only cut of Animal Cookies to pollinate the award-winning Lemon Tree, creating Lemon Frosting. This slightly Indica-dominant hybrid produces top-shelf buds that display a mix of traits from both parents. Some phenotypes may display more Lemon Tree characteristics, and others may be more Animal Cookies-dominant. Most phenotypes will offer a blend of traits from these two elite cultivars.
Lemon Frosting is a feminized F1 hybrid of Lemon Tree and Animal Cookies. Feminized seeds are valuable because they eliminate the need for identifying and removing male plants from the garden. Approximately 99.9 percent of feminized seeds will produce all-female plants. F1 hybrid seeds also are cherished by growers because these seeds typically produce plants that are vigorous, stable, and uniform in growth.
As the name suggests, Lemon Tree smells strongly of sweet-and-sour lemon. It is rich in terpenes and emits bitter notes of diesel fuel, fine wood, and fresh soil. The combination of Lemon Skunk and Sour Diesel produces a powerful aroma that can be smelled from a block away.
The aroma of Animal Cookies, like that of Lemon Tree, is often described as sweet and sour; however, it bears some notable differences. Animal Cookies produces an earthy and nutty bouquet, with hints of cookies, skunk, gasoline, and mint. When grown to its full the buds also release subtle notes of cherry, pine, and pepper.
Lemon Frosting combines the sweet and sour citrus aroma of Lemon Tree with the earthy, doughy scent of Animal Cookies, creating a complex and pungent bouquet that is redolent of lemon cookies, diesel, skunk, and soil.
Lemon Frosting is packed with terpenes and flavonoids that coat the palate with flavors of tart lemon and sweet cookie dough. Some Lemon Tree-dominant phenotypes may taste strongly of lemon, wood, and diesel, and some Animal Cookies-dominant phenotypes may produce flavors of cherry, vanilla, and cookie dough.
Like its parents, Lemon Frosting is medium to tall in height. This variety produces long branches and large emerald-green leaves. Lemon Frosting produces bulky colas that are caked in a sticky layer of trichomes. Animal Cookies-dominant phenotypes may have significant internodal spacing and smaller, frostier buds. Some plants may display shades of red and purple late into the flowering period.
Lemon Frosting is a moderately easy
to grow and is much hardier and more vigorous than Animal Cookies. This hybrid is highly adaptable and can be cultivated both indoors and outdoors. Because of its tall stature, indoor growers may benefit from using low-stress or high-stress training methods such as topping, fimming, or super cropping during the vegetative growth period. This will limit the stretch during the early flowering period and boost the yield.
